different favorite teams.

Now I will not mention the

names of the teams here for

fear of offending either my

family or my husband.

You all know who you are

and which is your favorite team.

Let’s get real here. What the heck

does it matter which team you

grew up with and which team you like?

I am sorry, but I just don’t get

this passionate loyalty to what is

really a product (the team).  It’s

just a corporation, it is not really

all the emotion that we put into

it.  That is just sales in action,

trying to get people emotionally

involved and committed to the

teams, if you ask me.

Yes, some people on some

teams have fun big and social

personalities, and some are

fun to hate, but how can I say

this– who cares. ROTFL!!

Maybe I just need to pick a team

and hang with them and become

a true fan.  But it seems like

whatever team I pick starts a losing

streak, which is why I get so down

on sports all the time.  I am like

the losing queen of the universe.

am pretty much crazy in

love with Tiger Woods.

He is not a brute force

sports player.  He is finess

if you ask me.

He plays a mental game.

He masters his thoughts and

his reservations.

He also practices like crazy so that

his body mechanics are automatic

and his muscles know what to do

at any given moment. It is automatic.

His cognitive skills are what appeal to

me.  Such a master of visualization

and envisioning successful outcome.

people on the circuit are afraid of

him, that’s what I have heard.  Not

because he is the better player

necessarily, but because they know

that if it comes down to a sudden

dealth play-off, he will not fail,

he will not falter, he will not wilt

under the pressure.  He is like

cold as ice steel in his emotions.

He has them that well under

control.  Now that is scary.  That

is the kind of person we should

have as President of the United

States. Someone who is objective

and able to make the difficult

decisions with out emotions.

Maybe I will start a Tiger For

President campaign.  ROTFL!!

the big sport games like the Super

Bowl. 

In my mind most all of the

good things are related to food.

ROTFL!!

Being an italian family, we do love

our food.  That is one thing we all

agree on, to be sure.

Now what do most people serve

for Super Bowl? I think the answer

is hot wings.  Not us.  We like our

meatballs.

The other thing we like that most

people do not like is fruitcake.

Unless you make it yourself, this

is hard to get at anytime except

Christmas.  When we see some

on sale, we buy them and then

keep them in the freezer.  I know

this is odd for Super Bowl, but

oh well. That’s us. Crazy italians.

We have all the usual chips and dip

and that kind of stuff.  Of course!

If we are going to somebody else’s

house to watch the game, I try to

pack something portable.  I have

those fancy Tupperwear containers

for transporting things, but more

often than not lately i will just buy

one of those cheese or tortilla

platters from the grocery store that

has veggies or appetizers or things

that are munchable.

Even if the game sucks, at least the

food is good, and the wives are

largely in the kitchen anyway unless

there is some great point being scored

or re-played.

thought.  What if ESPN got

bought up by a bunch of

sports-hating wives. ROTFL

Suddenly it would be off the

air.  They would sit down in the

lazy boy, get the cold soda,

flip on the remote, and NOTHING.

No ESPN.  What would happen then?

Probably they would be darn hard

to get along with, that is all I can

imagine. “Honey, could you go

and check and see if the power

is on?” they would whine.

“Honey, something’s wrong with

my TV,” they would complain

like a little kid.

Maybe they would all die of

broken hearts because their

sports tv is not being broadcast.

Heaven forbid, then they would

have to live in the real world.

Probably they would all start

playing Second Life so that they

could invent a virtual sports world.

to someplace with a coast.

Either that or Vegas.

Some place that does not have

sports bars. Someplace maybe even

that does not have ESPN.  Now

that would be novel.

Maybe some place that broadcasts

only HGTV for us girls.  We will have

a Martha Stewart marathon, just

like the guys watch 24 hour sports.

I don’t know that we will actually

go do this because of the money,

but I have to tell you I have been

thinking about it.  Get a massage.

Get my hair done.  Get a pedicure.

I can see it all now.

She thought I was not sympathetic

enough to the plight of the working

husband.  I just want to be clear

that I do understand that a man

needs his sports –it is inbred

in their genes, they are hunters

and fighters.  So yes I understand

this.

And i also understand that the

first thing any self-respecting

man would buy if he won the

lottery would be a honin huge

ole new tv.  That and a refrigerator

for the family room so they wouldn’t

have to walk 10 steps to the kitchen.

ROTFL!

I think I cut plenty of slack for sports

to fill the day.  But 24 hours?  That

has to be a little excessive if you ask

me.  When was the last time you

ever saw a manly man read a book?

Yeah, well maybe a copy of Sports

Illustrated, yeah, but that doesn’t

count because it was the swimsuit

edition.

Men are primal beings, we have

to agree.

But just once in awhile it would

be nice for a little adult conversation

and not the latest discussion about

what new stereo television is about

to be released, and why this is such

a good idea for a family to purchase. ROTFL!

widows all across the country.

We do not have husbands that

are acutally dead, meaning that

we are not REAL widows.  Our

widowship is a function of the fact

that our manly men are devoted

and in love with sports.

Sports are a good thing.  They

contribute to the economy– like

the beer industry and the chip

and pretzel industry and the

lazy boy recliner industry and

eventually to the belly fat and

weight loss industry. ROTFL!

Men love their sports. Sometimes

ever so occassionally there are men

who can live without sports.  This

are few and far between and should

be treasured and appreciated.

These are what you call your

metrosexual men.  They have

interests beyond the traditional

cave man.  They are interesting

to talk to.  They have good brains.

They are charming.  Oftentimes

they are also gay, so just so you

know.  I love these men.  I could

be married to a dozen of them

because they are so kind to their

women and they actually like things

like shopping and computers and

the theater.

Being a sports widow is not the

easiest life, altho it does have its

advantages. Most of these husbands

are very hard working during the week. 

It is just on the weekends that they

take life easy and turn into couch

potatoes.  The good news is that they

are too busy with sports to cheat on

their wives or children, so by and

large they are faithful and good

providers.  You can’t complain

about that.

around Walmart prices, but

sometimes I manage to do it.

First of all you have to know

how Walmart thinks.

If they place pallets of something

in the aisle, that means that they

expect you to buy it and you and

lots of other people.  If you see pickles

in the aisle in one gallon jars, you

can bet thatt they have alot of

pickels to sell and they will darn well

do it.  The aisle is the choice spot

for getting people to impulse

purchase.

Now where is their really cheap stuff?

Lots of times it is on the bottom shelf.

It is boring dull stuff that is not glitzy

or high profit.  But it can oft times

be cheaper.

Also, after a holiday, you can

sometimes find the holiday items

marked down.  Go right the next

day after the holiday (like after

Christmas or Valentine’s).  Do

not go too very early in the

morning or they will not have

marked the items 50% off yet.

today.  It was me, my mom,

and my sister.

You would think there was

no economic downturn based

on how many people were

there at the mall.  Many of

them were carrying lots of

new purchases, so I guess

more people besides us are

spending money these days.

Here are some interesting things

that I saw people buyign:

-a toilet seat

-apuppy in the pet store

-books

-calendars

-trendy clothes

-shoes

We did our share to help out the

economy too.  Hope my husband

doesn’t freak when he sees the

charge card.

We ate lunch at the food court. I always

like the gyros, but my sis and my mom

had mexican.

We also got Orange Julius which I

sure wish I could figure out how

to make. It was simply delicious.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, DH

was still just where we left him on

the lazy boy in fron of the TV.  When

he dies I will bury him in the lazy boy.

He tells me he is all computer

literate and all that, but all I

see is that he watches ESPN

sports all day and all night,

so this is a test.
